We are a leading Power and Gas trading firm operating across European energy markets. We are expanding at our Headquarters in Southern Europe and are seeking a dynamic Head of Energy Trading to lead its trading strategy, manage the desk, and drive growth in both physical and financial power and gas markets.
As the Head of Energy Trading will be responsible for managing the firm’s trading operations across European energy markets, with a focus on Power and Gas. The successful candidate will set the trading strategy, manage risk, lead a team of traders, and build strong relationships with counterparties, TSOs, exchanges, and regulators.
The successful candidate will have the following responsbilities

Develop and execute the firm’s trading strategy across Power and Gas markets (spot, forward, and derivatives).

Lead and manage the trading team, fostering a high-performance culture.

Oversee daily trading activities, ensuring compliance with risk limits and company policies.

Optimize the portfolio through proprietary and structured trading opportunities.

Monitor and analyze market fundamentals, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments to identify trading opportunities.

Manage relationships with exchanges, brokers, TSOs, utilities, and counterparties.

Collaborate with Risk, Middle Office, and Back Office to ensure robust trade capture, PnL reporting, and risk management.

Drive expansion into new markets, products, and trading opportunities across Southern Europe and beyond.

Report directly to the CEO/Board on trading performance and strategy.
Experience required:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Power and Gas trading within European markets, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Strong track record of profitable proprietary and/or structured trading.

In-depth knowledge of European energy markets, regulations, and trading platforms (e.g., EEX, ICE, Nord Pool, OMIE).

Expertise in both physical and financial products, including futures, options, and structured deals.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with proven experience in building and motivating trading teams.

Excellent risk management awareness and ability to work closely with risk/control functions.

Established network of relationships across energy market participants in Europe.

Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in a Southern European language (e.g., Spanish, Italian, Greek) is highly desirable.
