A great opportunity for a driven Arabic speaking accountant to join a fast growing Oil Trading firm in Dubai.

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Professional Accounting Certification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA) is often highly desirable or mandatory.

You should be familiar with the mechanisms of oil trading, including how oil prices fluctuate, how to account for commodity contracts, and how trading deals are structured.

Shipping & Logistics: Knowledge of shipping operations, including freight charges, fuel costs, chartering agreements, and port handling costs. An understanding of the Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) commonly used in shipping contracts is essential.

Revenue Recognition: Oil and shipping companies might have complex revenue recognition policies, particularly when dealing with long-term contracts, joint ventures, or fluctuating shipping rates.

Financial Reporting & Analysis: Preparation of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and comprehensive financial analysis. Being able to produce and analyze financial reports specific to oil trading and shipping operations is critical. Cost Accounting: Ability to track and manage costs related to oil procurement, transportation, and storage. Cost accounting in shipping can be particularly challenging due to fluctuating fuel prices and port charges. Budgeting and Forecasting: Ability to prepare and manage budgets for oil and shipping operations, including forecasting oil prices, shipping demand, and associated costs.

ERP Systems & Accounting Software: Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or specialized shipping and trading software (e.g., Oddo / Aspect ). Excel: Strong Excel skills for financial modeling, analysis, and reporting. Familiarity with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling techniques is often required. Financial Modeling: Building financial models that take into account oil market trends, shipping rates, and cost projections.

Oil Trading Experience: 3-5 Prior experience in oil trading or within the energy sector, ideally with exposure to financial aspects of the trading cycle. Shipping Industry Experience: 3-5 Previous work in a shipping or logistics environment, particularly in financial or accounting roles. Exposure to International Markets: Since oil trading and shipping often deal with global transactions, experience with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), foreign exchange rates, and international trade compliance is valuable.

Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flows from international payments, shipping activities, and trade receivables.
