IT Business Analyst (LNG Trading & ETRM)
About the Role
Our client is an established LNG trading organisation seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to support and enhance its trading technology landscape, with a primary focus on the Planlogic EOS ETRM platform and its integration with key business systems.
Working closely with Trading, Operations, Chartering, Risk, and Finance teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in the analysis, design, testing, and delivery of technology solutions that support the end-to-end LNG trading lifecycle. This is a highly visible position requiring strong business analysis skills, stakeholder engagement capabilities, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, IT teams, and third-party vendors.
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements across Trading, Operations, Risk, and Finance functions.
- Support, maintain, and enhance the Planlogic EOS ETRM platform and associated business processes.
- Lead system change initiatives, releases, upgrades, testing activities, and continuous improvement programmes.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring thorough test coverage and successful business sign-off.
- Analyse and support integrations between EOS and related systems, including:
- Voyage/Fleet Management Systems
- Optimisation Platforms
- Reporting and Market Data Solutions
- Treasury and Finance Systems
- Develop a strong understanding of the LNG trade lifecycle and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, controls, and data quality.
- Document business processes, functional specifications, system workflows, and support procedures.
- Create, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot automated jobs, interfaces, scripts, and workflow processes.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst within energy, commodities, or LNG trading environments.
- Proven experience supporting and enhancing ETRM platforms.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end trading lifecycle, including trading, logistics, risk management, settlements, and accounting.
- Experience leading business change initiatives, system enhancements, and UAT activities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working directly with both front-office and back-office business users.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and requirements-gathering capabilities.
Desirable Experience
- LNG trading experience.
- Hands-on experience with Planlogic EOS.
- Exposure to voyage management platforms.
- Experience with optimisation systems.
- Knowledge of system integrations, data management, and reporting solutions.
- SQL, Python, and data analysis skills.
