Working From Home: Self-Assessment and the Road to Recovery

Like many other businesses with offices in the City of London we have been working from home for the last 10 or so weeks. It’s given me a chance to take a step back from the noise and stresses of the daily commute to understand and assess my own performance/value added/skills that I give to people around me, both professionally and personally.

Our business is very much technology and target driven. How quickly can you contact a relevant candidate or client and the speed at which you can fulfil the want / need from both parties. Given there are over 39,000 registered recruitment agencies in the UK and a 200% increase in recruitment firms in 2019 from 2010, coupled with a very low barrier to entry the competition is fierce!

Embracing technology and utilising innovation is something that cannot be ignored in any business. Many companies have been doing Cost Benefit Analysis of having a physical premise and the savings around not having one, along side cost of travel into financial centers and the health and safety of employees.

At Marlin we are proactively looking at best strategy to returning to working in the new ‘normal’ way. Be it travelling into London off-peak, splitting the week from office/home and most importantly rebuilding relationships with colleagues and clients, some of whom we have not physically seen in over 3 months!

Do we live to work or work to live? One thing that lockdown has taught me is that having a balanced, healthy lifestyle is far more efficient than not having one!

If you are currently out of work, and we know each other in a working capacity, please get in touch and let me know how I can assist your efforts.
Please let me know if there’s anything I can do, or one of my contacts can do to help.
Can I put you in touch with someone? Can I write a LinkedIn recommendation for you? Do you need me as a referee? Do you want me to send someone an email to put in a good word?

I along with everyone at Marlin is here to help.
